CIGARETTE DAYDREAMS
2022, 12” x 12”, 28 hours
Graphite and charcoal
Here, an elderly man is portrayed with striking detail. This sketch has left me satisfied with its hyperrealistic visualization—particularly his wrinkled skin and hat. His face tells a story of a life filled with trials and experiences, evident in the tiredness etched into his eyes and the depth of wrinkles mapping his visage. The act of smoking becomes a contemplative ritual—a means to journey back into his youth, reminiscing about the moments that shape his memories.
Through "Cigarette Daydreams," I not only intended to depict the man's reflective state but also delves into the universal theme of nostalgia and introspection. It is an intimate exploration of the past, wrapped in the haze of a cigarette smoke.
